Where They Lead Me
Long and weary roads
My feet carry me on.
Laughter and sadness
Intertwined forever.
But still I let them
Lead me on.
To soft dirt between my toes
Trees towering overhead
Soft grass tickles, like fingers
Grasping lightly at my legs.
Their former prison cells in my hands
And they lead me on.
To pebbles on riverbanks
Cool water lapping at toes
Osprey gliding above, diving
Flash of silver in talons
But I let them
Lead me on.
I let my feet lead me on
On to you, my love.
My home, my world
Who holds me together
When I fall apart
It’s where they lead me.
