if you were...You
if you were …You
a poem
you are a beautiful blue bird
singing me a love song—
if you were a large black crow
you’d still sing a beautiful melody
you sparkle in the light of dawn
you shimmer in the evening light—
if you were a piece of broken glass
you’d still be a sparkly ornament
you create beauty in every place
enhancing everything you see—
if you were a barbed-wire fence
you’d still make every place look nice
you are a hot coal
a burning ember alight with love—
if you were a chilled ice cube
you’d still heat up my heart.
