How Can We Go To War?
As we march forward
With the crackle of gunfire
And the ear shattering boom of the bombs.
We become littered.
Littered with the limbs of our comrades.
And picking up the pieces
You hold the hand
Of your brother.
Hold his hand
Without his body.
And as the bloodshot eyes draw near
We throw back our heads
Howling into the crisp sky
Shrill outcries of justice.
Of peace. Of war.
How can we got to war?
For peace?
For justice?
When all that becomes
Of the destruction
Are the severed hands
Of our brothers
And the murderous cries within our lungs
And the shattered hearts
Of our mothers.
How can we go to war?
