Eternal Flame
Standing on the edge of the mountain
I let the wind caress the contours of my skin
I felt the hole where my heart should have been
And I didn't understand why it wasn't beating...
Pumping, bleeding, running.
Someone stole my heart, that filthy thief
And didn't return me with one.
I know not his identity and why I couldn't feel
His blood--burning, scorching, blazing, raging
Through my veins.
I fell to my knees
And clutched my chest in anguish
Anxious--to find my love
Patience--I could not contain
Then, with the squint of my eyes
I saw him ascend from the bottom of the hill
He walked smoothly and fluidly toward me
A smile poised upon his face
Graceful, balanced, beautiful.
With his hands, he lifted me into his arms
And enveloped me into the warmth of his body
The rise and fall of his chest
Synchronized with the rise and fall of mine
He placed one hand over the hole
And whispered sweet music in my ear
"I'm so sorry" He bellowed. "I love you"
Tears swept down my face
But he kissed them away gently
It was his heart that held my life
And I felt it beating, pumping, bleeding, running
Giving me life--feeding me his blood
Which burned, blazed, scorched, and raged through my veins.
He who stole my heart, filthy thief
Gave me life in return
Gave me love
Strength
Entity
His eternal flame...
