You Me and We
The words I muttered
And refused to repeat
Made my heart flutter
And irregularly beat.
You easily told me
How much I meant to you
Yet I could not see
The feelings you knew.
I had said it before
But could not restate
That I loved you more
And I was happy with fate.
I feared trusting you
But I quickly saw
Your sad subtle clue:
A slight twitch in your jaw.
The hurt you displayed
Made my chest empty,
But I could not be afraid,
You would never hurt me.
A bright smile flashed
Onto my confident face
As my fear was smashed
And nervousness replaced
"I Love You" I said
And you smiled with glee
For there was nothing to dread,
'You' and 'me' were now we.
