Behind My Closed Eyes
Her eyes glowed a brilliant blue
And struck me a cold glare
I felt as if I was drowning in the Atlantic Ocean
She spoke with no words
Her voice was trapped somewhere
Stolen--ripped from her chords
It was something about her that I noticed
She reminded me of someone
As she stood there hugging herself
Probably to nestle the welts printed on her arms
Of course the cold would only sting them
What was she trying to say to me?
From cold and blue
Her eyes were an outstanding flickering orange.
And she was looking to the battlefield ground
Which seemed to crack, crumble and split
Beneath our feet--Revealing a massive inferno
She was falling in
Her arms were reaching out to me
She wanted me to help her
But who is she?
As I took off running
My legs felt like they were floating
I fell to my knees to pull her up
But she fell in deeper
She screamed for me to help[no audible]
The tears came flooding from her eyes
And into mine--she stared
Outstanding orange vs. Burning brown
She was me...
I had to save..me
Adrenaline pumped through my body--I closed my eyes
And in my hand laid hers
As we--breathless--laid on the safe side
Of the broken battlefield...
On deciding to open my eyes...
I woke up lying the middle of my room floor
Dazed...
Releasing the grip of the knife that was in my hand......
