Deist
Dear God --
Don't worry,
I still believe in you;
no need to have everyone clap
and chant, "I do believe in God,
I do, I do!"
No. I know you're out there
somewhere
watching us all
on your celestial widescreen,
a big, cold glass of God-Juice
in one hand
and some popcorn in the other.
You see, some people
(lots of people)
say that some things
(lots of things)
are "all in God's plan,"
or that someone lived because
"God intervened."
But after all the incidents
somewhat lacking in divine intervention --
child abuse,
homicides,
genocides,
suicides,
hate crimes,
wars fought in your name --
it's just easier for me
to believe that you gave up on us
a while ago:
A god that careless,
that arbitrary,
is one I could never love.
