He loves me, He loves me not.
Pluck number one,
He loves me.
The flower petal dropped to the ground soundlessly,
Laid there on top of the luscious, green grass;
It was unmoving as a peaceful lake undisturbed.
Pluck number two,
He loves me not.
The white pedal fluttered down spinning gracefully,
Landing just beside the first.
How nice.
Pluck number three,
He loves me.
Flashing dazzling, white teeth,
The girl smiled.
Was her luck turning out for the better?
Pluck number four,
He loves me not.
The man she loved was strong and handsome.
His eyes, a light green, could mesmerize her endlessly.
If only he loved her the way she did him.
Pluck number five,
He loves me.
She was just an average, everyday girl,
Who someday hoped to be married with kids.
His kids.
Pluck number 6,
He loves me not.
His name was Michael. Michael Anderson.
He was a quiet young man, not the popular type that most girls loved;
But what wasn’t there to love?
Pluck number 7,
He loves me.
“Sohpie? Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you.”
Sophie turned around to see Michael there, staring at her breathlessly.
“You were looking for me?” she replied, dumbfounded.
Sophie looked down at her decapitated flower;
No more petals to pluck.
She returned her gaze to look him in the eye.
“I love you, Sophie, will you marry me?”
Tears flooded her eyes as she breathed an enchanted “yes.”
