Daffodil Joy
Silver teardrops cleanse
The delicate slab of marble,
Choked by the parched grass.
Blue jays warble
A mournful melody.
A name and date etched?
Nothing more.
But so much more.
Within the grooves of
The few simple letters
A lifetime danced.
Laughter and tears,
Hopes and disappointments,
Love unbridled.
Dirt could not
Bury the memories
That will fade in time,
But never extinguish.
Ticking the stone,
A single yellow daffodil grew.
