The Meeting Place MAG
Meet me at the corner of S. Buena Vista and Riverside Drive
At the corner of Hope and Flower
Or El Paso and Eagle Rock Boulevard
Meet me where boys meet girls
Meet me where the sidewalk ends
And where the sky and the rest of our lives begin
We'll meet in a diner one day
In the middle of nowhere
I'll probably stare at you over my coffee mug (sorry)
While Johnny Cash nudges us along from the jukebox
Or maybe a café somewhere in downtown L.A.
With the sound of pretentious chatter and car horns serving as our love song
We'll meet where silence is just a pregnant theory of heartstrings
Waiting to vibrate to just the right tune
Of laughter meeting
Souls meeting
You and I meeting
In that perfect moment – Meeting
At the corner of sunrise and sunset
During the fall, where nothing moves
(Neither time nor feet)
Except the torrent of gold and copper from the trees above
And that's how I'll know we've met
When the world rains twilight over our heads
When lips meet neck
And sip the caramel from macchiato skin
And I tell you that your tongue is really a wooden clapper
And that every word you speak is fashioned from silver
So that talking with you is like conducting a symphony of chimes
And when you blush and tell me to shut up
And your hand meets my left ring finger
Running up from my wrist to my forearm
Following the warm-blooded river that leads
All the way up to my (still beating?) heart
Then, we'd have met
Where a dog's day meets the cat's meow
And too corny to be true
Meets just about relationship material
Where tons of ice cream
Meet tons of Oprah, and
My pseudo-ex has met the man of her dreams
Where my Post-It poetry meets your smile
And your Love-Is cartoons meet the inside of my pockets
Where you and I have known each other from before we were born
Where I know the story about how you got that scar
And that grin
And that knack for living life, and making me sweat like mad
And you know all about my sad history with women
And gravity
And white cotton polo shirts
This is where we'll meet:
At the junction of Yesterday and Tomorrow
From Nevermore to Forever and Ever
Where Heaven meets Earth
Pessimism has lost its luster
Hearts skip a beat
And a ring meets your finger
This is where we say good-bye for now
At the place where Tender Loving meets Care
But promise to just wait a little while longer
And I swear that I'll meet you there
