The Egg
I sit and stare at the walls of confinement
Daring not to move an inch,
For if I did I would be set free
And I wouldn’t want that.
I hear the vibrance of the world outside
If Fear released his grasp
I could make my own noise,
Yet I wouldn’t want that.
The days go by and silence persists
I look around at the solitude,
Thinking how I could be free
But I wouldn’t want that.
My throat is hoarse
Yet no sound has been heard.
I cry out to those who wish to release me
Because I wouldn’t want that.
But one day my prison breaks
And out I fly into the world.
Seeing all the beauty, I think about my prison
And I know I wouldn’t want that now.
