Steady
We’re sitting there, thick as thieves
Him not knowing I’m about to leave
I wonder, should I take the risk?
Of those warm, inviting, pale red lips?
His eyes scream yes, blue gray slate
My own stay fixed on his beautiful face
But something else tells me to stay away
From a luring smile on an off-cast day
Still, I draw close, keeping steady
When really, my head is swirling round the eddy
Of the thought of cheating on my very first man
Breathe in, hope he will understand
But, somehow, I close my eyes right then
Head back, away from those lips again
And leave the blue gray suntanned bliss
That would have been our only kiss.
