Destiny
One last lingering touch,
A light trace of the face with a fingertip,
She lets go.
Tears stream down her face,
A silent sob.
Wiping her tears,
She turns around,
And walks away,
Longing to look back,
To see his still form one last time.
Yet,
Never looking back.
Her tears dry,
And silently,
She closes the door,
Thus ending,
This chapter of her life.
Her heart,
Once pure and free,
Now,
Shattered and frozen.
Dark days lie ahead.
Will she ever see the light again,
Or feel its warmth?
Only they can tell,
But they do not reveal what they see.
She slowly trudges down the path,
One foot at a time.
She walks on,
Not boldly,
Or willingly,
But persistently.
To meet her destiny.
