Stubborn Love
Empty is me when I refuse to look at my watch,
but I look outside and understand that it is night.
One day this will end,
and I can let go of things I’ve never held onto.
Did you know that your eyes shine more when you’re crying?
Did you know that your beauty awakens when you tire?
I value vulnerability,
but…
we can not both break the already broken.
I’ve seen flowers everyone should see,
but I’ve said words no one should hear.
How they give to me each day,
and I draw pictures in the sands,
half-hoping forgiveness will return
or time will awaken some god awful sympathy upon me.
I know I never told you “I’m sorry”,
but here it is…
-it’s your fault.
