Gray Underwear
She sits in her chair
Clad in the gray underwear
The left side with a tear
Peers into the mirror
But not into her eyes
She can't handle them today
Today she knows they are fire
They are wild as a stallion
They are dangerous, untamed
Mystery lurks beneath their glaze
Shielded beneath two dark pupils
Engulfed by two dark irises
She doesn't want to face her truth
She doesn't want to look into them
And see their beauty
If that's what they conceal
She doesn't need to know who she is
Or where she is going
Or especially where she came from
She doesn't know who will be staring back at her
If she looks into that mirror
And into those eyes
Will she see the same girl sitting on her chair
Dressed in gray underwear with a hole on the left
Staring back at her with the same battered expression?
