The edge of the universe
Is a mysterious place,
Filled with stars and light,
But still blacker than black.

From a distance, it looks almost unreal
With quiet, twinkling lights
And swirls of cloudy color.
But once closer, it is revealed
That the edge is something more.

Fire blazing from a white-hot core,
Smokey holes filled with dusty light,
Soul-sucking and cold,
The edge is not what it seems,
But is still magical.

One day,
In years too far away to imagine,
The edge will be empty.
No more dancing stars,
No more shimmering clouds,
Just a blanket of black,
Suffocating what once was there.

But we are still captivated,
Wondering,
Curious,
And we have no worry
Of what is to come
At the Edge of the Universe.

I learned in science about how one day, the universe will suddenly cease to exist. I thought that would make an interesting poem, so I wrote it down.
