Not Boiling Over
People yelling at you
So many things they want you to do
So, so many things they want you to be
And all you wanted to be was you.
They say that if you try to please everyone, you'll please no one
But that's not true.
You just won't be able to please yourself.
But that doesn't matter.
Not too much.
Except for, sometimes, when you're all alone, and it all seems like
too much
too too much.
You never wanted any of this, needed any of it.
Their words, voices, actions, thoughts
seemingly bounce off you, pass right through.
But they don't.
They hit home, every single time.
And they hurt.
You put up a strong face, but inside
You're oozing and bruising
But after all that long, hard work
It would be a shame to loose it all now.
So you don't loose it.
It stays.
