Where I'm From
I am from the dog kennel near the woods,
From Frank’s red hot and mouth-watering food.
I am from the light blue crystal clear pool.
I am from the rows of pine trees,
The smell of the lilac trees along the front yard.
I am from playing baseball and brown, wavy hair,
From Jean and Alan and the Llanas Family.
I am from the usually short family,
And the unusually tall one.
From “Go Deep!” and “Ok, just don’t tell your mother…”
I am from church every Sunday to praying before each meal.
I’m from Waukesha, tamales and buffalo wings.
From the “Oh boy, don’t break your leg…”
the “Are you doing something stupid?”
and the “Don’t say stupid!”
I am from the family room lined with memories of holidays past
And the long, endless days taking the pictures.
