Tennis
We hold out heads up;
Walking up to the net
We look into our opponent’s eyes
And we say “up or down?”
We spin our rackets and
watch it hit the ground
Finally toes to the base line
And our weapon of choice in hand
Up in the air goes the ball;
And we are on our tip toes
Reach! Reach! Reach!
Slam it and the game begins.
Down the line
To the net and SLAM!
Fifteen: Love
Already making the game a statistic
If tennis were easy;
we wouldn’t bother with it.
