Drab Gray
Caught between two worlds -
Tugged by my wrists,
By the cuffs of my soul.
I came from one a wretched thing,
Dirty and deprived,
Allowed for a moment to press my lips
To the fruit of the other side -
Its white blood tasted like wine.
My eyes saw all the pleasures there -
I itched to shove my fingers in,
To tear the white flesh with my teeth.
My skin felt the warmth of the light from there -
The heat washed down my spine,
Tingled with delicate touches across my thighs.
My tongue beat against my teeth -
My heart against my chest.
Caught between two worlds -
Burned inside out in one,
But unwilling to return
To the drab grayness,
The sameness of my home.
Much better the naked joy,
The pure desire,
The cleansing and unholy fire.
I am drunk on that fire.
I bite into the flesh -
I'll die with my lips pressed to it,
Sweet juice dripping down my chin -
The drab gray of my dead chin.
