My family is a closet.
My dad is an old pair of jeans,
Worn and comfortable but often away from the closet.
My mom is a cashmere sweater,
Warm, soft, and hard to take off.
My brother is a pair of running sneakers,
Athletic and always on the move.
Oliver is a pair of socks,
Always underfoot and keeping our feet warm.
Ruby is a pair of neon pink jeans,
Girly and screaming for attention.
I am a bathing suit,
Loves the water and being at the beach.

This is a Metaphor Poem written for my poetry book called An Imprint of Me. Writing the poetry book was an assignment in my 7th grade English class. Oliver is our little poodle and Ruby is our even smaller maltese-poodle.

You considered each of your family members with such care, sensitivity and love.  Thank you for the beautiful metaphors.  Maybe we'll have a family conversation about which article of clothing each of us is!
