My Roots Run Deep
Born weak
Feeble
Vulnerable
Nurtured as I grew towards the sun
I’ve hardened with age
But just because I am stronger now
Does not mean nothing can cut me down
My roots run deep
I might have a rough exterior
But I am soft on the inside
Most people only see my trunk and leaves
Whispering in the wind
Stretching towards the sky
But if you dig a little deeper
There is more below the surface
My roots run deep
Out of sight
Does not mean it isn’t there
My outside changes with the season
Green
Brown
Red
Gone
I lose my leaves
They grow back again
But what is below remains the same
My roots run deep
And as the wind runs through my leaves
Keep in mind
There is more to me
Than what it seems
My roots run deep
