Sleeping In MAG
The sun is trying to reach me again –
shoving his wrists past my window blinds
curling his fingers against my shoulder blades.
He wears a smile that seems to stretch
not just from cheek to cheek
but from sea to sea
wide with desperation and hope.
He's a stunning sight at dawn
but my eyes are still burnt
after watching him drop from the skyline
every twilight
to see you.
And I can't live without the sun
but I'm vindictive enough
to pull the sheets over my head
and make him wait until noon.
