Because I Remember
Each day that drags in cycles, I build more sight and witness.
The wind may shriek and howl, send shivers down my spine.
And I remember, but I do not hide
Each night that darkness falls, my skin begins to thicken.
Shadows creep beside me, blind my eyes from day,
And I remember, but I do not slip away
Each dream that holds me captive, my mind augments in size.
Images lurk like strangers, piercing an old heart,
And I remember, but I do not fall apart.
Each memory that comes to haunt me, my heart solidifies.
Another image cries in pain, howling throughout the night,
And I remember, but I walk on towards the light.
