Imitation is suicide.

Who am I you ask? I am the light that shines from above.
I am a sister, a aunt, a family, a friend.
I am the one who went to the end
I am the child of God who’s drowned in sin.
I am the one that could have been, should have been, would have been.

I am the one who’s looking in the wrong places
I am the one who always sees the crying faces.
I am the one who kept the secrets
I am the one who’s hidden in creases and picked up the pieces.

I am the one who took the blame
When someone in my family was too ashamed.
I am the one who was silent
When things got violent.

I am the one whose heart is gold
But at times are tempted to take someone’s soul.
Praying and praying for a better day
Sleeping and sleeping the pain away.

I am the one who is writing this poem
To many people this story I have told em’.
I am me and you are you
This is my story and now I’m through.
