A Prayer for a Corrupt Society: Drowning in Havoc and Chaos
A prayer
for the cry
of an abused kid
that’ll never be heard.
To the hopes
and dreams
that were
unmercifully beaten
out of her
wounded soul.
There’s no way
out.
A prayer
for the
quaking ground
that destroys
all that abide
above:
tearing apart
homes
cities
lives.
To the
memories shattered
as broken glass
and the lives
once led
that man
can never rebuild.
There’s no way
out.
A prayer
for the child
with a child
who’s sacrificed
her childhood desires
and given up
her education
to work
for a little soul.
There’s no way
out.
A prayer
for the souls
stabbed and shot.
To the wrongdoer
with no guilt
or conviction
running carefree.
There’s no way
out.
A prayer
for the media
who’s poisoned
the minds of
this generation
with
sex,
drugs,
and
crime
as if those
are the keys
to success
in life.
There’s no way
out.
A prayer
for the war-torn
nations—
abandoned
by soldiers
and aided
by none.
Burned houses
and debris
decorate the
streets.
There’s no way
out.
A prayer
for this
corrupt society
that’s headed
down the
broad way
to destruction.
There’s…
no…
way…
out…
