Box Of Memories
holding this box
that's filled with the stuff
that once belonged to you
it has a picture of us
a broken cell phone
i laugh remembering
i broke that phone
a scrap of paper
in my hand
my phone number
and email address
i feel my eyes stinging
trying to hold back tears
a movie ticket
from our first date
a poem he wrote just for me
i sit cross legged
on my bed reading that poem
and feel the tears falling down
the book i gave him
and told him it was my favorite
even tho it was a cheesy romance
he read it
and i smile though my tears
i lift a scrap of paper out of the box
and look at it
it's the poem i wrote him
it's cheesy.
but he loved it
i pick up a CD
and a mix i made him
he used to play it every day
he said while he was thinking of me
he liked to listen to my music
looking down in this box
i feel my heart breaking
my inside shattering
the tears turning into
sobs
hard enough to make me shake
i pull out a box
wrapped up with a bow
marked
for me
inside
a ring
and a note
that said
will you marry me ?
and i fall to my knee's
cause he's gone
my world is over
i pull the ring over my finger
and kiss it
remembering him
remembering us
