Excuses
How long will it take you
before you can become beautiful
for something other than yourself?
After a while, your hands will stop
expecting walls to come equip with light switches
and darkness will wilt
without the sun burning your cloudy eyes.
You go around thanking loneliness
for giving you mortality,
but has anyone ever told you
that your body will betray you
to sit on some wooden bench with death.
Curse these three walls for lowering expectations
in a world teeming with greatness.
