You know that saying, you get respect when you give respect?
Well, when does that come into play here?
She walks around the house, with her phone in her hand
awaiting a message to show someone cares

They yell and scream at her, but somehow she's always to blame,
it's never them that falters in shame
Is it that easy for her to blame, To target, To write off,
like it's some kind of sick game

They tell her that she'll never make it in the world.
Do they expect her to just sit there?
With only a few words in defense, soon she is in tears.
They don't see, they don't care, they only see how they feel.

When do they start to think about her; how she feels?
Suddenly she thinks, when will I be good enough?
when my tears are covered in dust?
Soon she just gives up. Why retaliate when it's never going to be good enough?

She always tries to stand up for herself, but eaither way she gets hurt.
So now what? Does she pretend to be okay until they decide to care about her?
Does she wait in her room, until they realize she's not around?
Her mom would notice, but her dad wouldn't care nor see,
and that's what hurts me.

My parents will never see how they truly affect me.
They're always too busy outside to sit down and listen to me.
I can't fully respect them until they respect me.
And you can't respect someone else until you respect yourself.

The author's comments:
I wrote this one night when I was pretty frusterated with being blamed for things I shouldn't be. At first it was just a poem to release some anger, but soon after Father's Day was coming, and I had everything planned out. I had bought a card and had wrote a considerable amount in it, last minute I decided to inculde one of my poems. I decided to inculde this one. When he read it he didn't say anyhting. But it's still one of my favorites out of them all.

Thanks so much. My poetry is always very personal. I never used to show anyone when I first got started. I still don't show any of my friends or family. Even though most the time my poetry is about my family, I don't think they would handle my honety very well hahah thank you for commenting :)

Part of the J7X team. :)

The fourth and last stanza were my favorites. :) The poem flowed together very well.
You can tell that this is something very personal, and that's what makes reading poetry interesting.
The wording was also great. Good job!

thank you soo much, this poem has really played a huge asspect in my life. First of all it was the first poem that I showed to my family, Well to my dad but my family read it as well, and it was also the first one to have gone online on here. Fathers Day is such a big day for me I always plan something huge.. meaning full, this went into the card. And yes after reading your last poem I do agree we've been through very similar things, and obviously turned out quite the same, It's amazing to meet someone who is well like me. I have two people in my life that truly understand me. One is three years older then me and is in his 2nd year of college; and the other is well my principal hahahha. I can't really relate to eaither age group. I'm really glad to have met you.

I loved the last two lines. I like it when I can write something that packs a lot of meaning into something short yet flows together well.

It was kinda hard to catch on to it's flow however, I still enjoyed it. I feel like you and I have certain situations in comon & could help each other in the long run in our writing b/c after reading something we could come up with our own solution based on how it was previously handled.

I love the comments too-thanks a lot. Don't be too much of a stranger on here.

I really like doing that to be honest, because It isn't until usually the last stanza that I reveal to the reader that I'm talking about my life, But when a poem is good the reader gets tied into the poem, and when the writer uses she it could be a infinite of possibilities of who I'm writing about then at the end you're like wow, she wasn't just writing about some person she was writing about herself. Or that's how I like for it to go, Who knows if people acutually do see it the same way. I'm glad you like it.

I'm really glad that you could relate to this, and commented it, It's been getting a lot of views but your the first to comment. It lets me know that people like what I'm writing, and that it makes sense to others as well.
