Someone Wrote This
Someone once said
that dying is easy
it's life that's hard.
They were right in so many ways.
You breathe to survive
to wake up to the company
of a bleak clouded sky
and people that can't
remember your last name.
You run
to walk through the halls
and push your way
through the intricate monotony
of the 24/7 routine
You write
to speak
to be heard in the darkness
of a thousand closed minds
and mended hearts.
You see yourself in their eyes
your words reflect their breathes
like the winter wind on a window sill
their tears make ice caps on your veins
They can't remember your last name
some may never know your first
they live to breathe
sing to live
and write to die
I have a closed heart
and an open mind
it's living that's
the hardest part
of seeing death
through a poet's eyes.
