Useless Self Reflection
A broken mirror on the wall
Blood and shattered glass on the floor
Thousands of tiny reflections stare back
All watching, waiting, hoping
She says "Pull yourself together
And the storm will surely pass"
Black clouds in the sky
Casting a shadow on our lives
I need a sign, I need to escape
The night sky rains down with stars
I don't hear the words she says
Because I've never listened before
It's a sad tune playing from the speakers
Elevator music for a funeral song
The stars continue to rain
Down from the Heavens, crashing to the Earth
Is it the end of the world? Maybe, I don't know.
My thoughts spill to the paper
Painting a picture I'd like to erase
Things never change, and hope is a lie
The world we live in is nothing
But a vehicle for useless self reflection
