&quot; We are born with two incurable diseases -- life, from which we die; and hope, which says maybe death isn&rsquo;t the end.&quot;<br /> - Andrew Greeley

cold,
bony feet
trying to keep me warm.
numb body parts,
wanting to sleep but
paranoid at getting caught
in arms,
against naked bodies
(why were we naked?
it was cold).
Pinky-promise me
that you love me;
give it the strength of childhood innocence
and swear upon pain of
broken finger (broken
heart) that you love me.
That is all the fear --
that the emotion, the commitment,
the tolerance will end
before these physio-spiritual bodies do.
But if you wrap your finger --
your smallest digit --
around mine,
I could face a world of glares
and chemistry tests,
early mornings and
loss.

Another long-ish love poem. Let me know how it makes you feel. 'Cuz, you know, that's what I'm writing for.

this poem is beautiful, shows a side of naiveness that i have experienced. i have been told i see things in black in white, which is what this reminds me of. promise you'll never leave me, pinky swear you love me. the fear of being lied to and left behind but the foolishness of staying anyways
