I wish that when I was young
My mother would not have taught me
Of God and of Heaven
I wish I would've learned simply how to be.

My mind tells me one thing
"There is no God."
My heart wants to believe.
It hopes life goes on.

I wish that my mother would not have wished
For me to believe in a Father and Son
I wish this every day
I have to live life with, not faith, but reason.

So, I'll break the chains my master put on me
I'll be a free-spirit, not part of His slave army
Won't it be nice?
Believing that when I die, I die, and there is no more light.

My dad started to be the same way.  For a while, I was forced to work, but then he started reading my blog and realized that no matter how much he tried to change it, my religion would stay what I wanted it to be, not what he wanted it to be.

reason will always disappoint. i agree about wishing you were never taught how to grow up but at least you had someone that cared enough to try. your body, mind, and heart wont all agree until you open your eyes and finally see something no one else can see.
