The Song of Aphrodite’s Faithful
A twisted heart a tangled mess
Ruins of a arrow pierced soul
Hang tattered in the breast
Crying out to be whole
She entices our hearts and minds
With promise of another’s soul
Though never her we blame
When we look at one another
Is it not she kindling the flame?
And to our condemnation
When we look to see the eyes
Of the subject of our adoration
Fastened to another
Their love also unrequited
No passions are we able smother
A web of hearts all mismatched
Never a gift given matched
And yet not a one is detached
Why our selves do we find blamed
And seek in her a relief from pain
When she herself our hearts aimed
And advised us in our longing
