She Waits
A dangerous temptress
Plucks on heartstrings,
Playing a melancholy melody.
Sweet.
Lovely.
Addictive.
It clogs your mind
Until you crave
His touch,
Her warmth,
Their kiss.
Never wanting to be alone,
Hating everyone
For not being the one.
We whisper promises,
Meant to be kept,
But broken in mere seconds
When our eyes wander
To a new face.
We drown.
We die.
We break.
We heal.
But then the temptress
With her sweetly deceptive grin
Returns
for one last chance,
One last dance
With our all too fragile,
All too human
Hearts
