The Frost Battle
Frost covers everything.
Marching down from the sky,
Crawling up from the ground,
And jumping in from the sides.
It's a hostile takeover,
Swift and complete.
The frost plays with me;
Tickles my finger and toes,
Pokes my cheeks and nose,
And paws at my hair.
Caressing my body,
It envelopes me.
Through my ears, it crawls inside,
Past my brain,
To my heart,
Hoping to finally own me.
It halts, surprised to see
My heart is owned by a different frost,
Far more strong and cold than
This frost could ever be.
So, the new frost retreats from my heart,
Shrinks from my mind,
And silently,
Finally,
Settles with claiming
My body
