In a List Format
In response to the voice, which
which utters bits of hope
I say
(in a list format):
(a) he doesn't like me, even a tiny trickle of a bit
(b) he has never liked me. Ever.
(c) he will, in all likelihood, never like me.
(d) he is most likely completely in love with/belongs with/likes That Girl who is my worst nightmare, even though I'm not quite sure who she is or what her name is
(e) he would be a terrible boyfriend
(f) it's too complicated
(g) neither of us would ever have time for each other
(h) it would ruin our 'friendship'
(i) I have better things to do with my time
(k) it would be awkward for our friends
(l) we would be a terrible couple
(m) why on earth would he *ever* like me?
(n) my best friend hates him with a fiery passion
(o) to be with him would make me sacrifice every single ounce of feminist pride
(p) I've already lied to all my friends, insisting that I *do not* like him
(q) it's a stupid idea
(r) I'd end up getting my heart broken. Again.
(s) it's just never gonna happen
(t) I don't really want to go through the trouble of dating someone in high school
(u) he's not even worth it
(v) my family would tease me like crazy
(w) I can live without him
(x) I would forget about all my great ideas and plans for the future, and not have time to carry them out
(y) the only way to go after that would be down
(z) there is no way in Heaven or on Earth that he will ever find it in his heart to fall in love with me
In response to that voice,
which seeks to destroy every last shred of hope
I say
(in a list format):
(a) He makes me happy
