FIVE RINGS....
Every four years, countries collide;
Not for war, O Heaven’s no!
But for something much more.
In winter, or summer, the torches flame shouts,
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!
Peace abounds between countries in hearty competition.
Five rings represent five virtues.
We spectators can only observe
As athletes experience the thrilling rush.
The first is pure love and fun for the sport.
The competition, winning, losing, playing,
Making friends, and all that go with it.
The second is commitment.
Nobody can succeed without dedication to something.
These athletes sacrifice so much, to represent their country and show what they’ve got.
The third is strength.
Physically, mentally and emotional-
Their muscles are huge, increases their minds for trick plays, and even through rough times, they still go on.
The fourth is respect.
Respect for their coaches, which also goes along with patience,
Respect for their other teammates, and for the sport itself!
The fifth is honor.
Whether a gold medal, or last place,
They made it there and that’s all that matters; they deserve our praise.
