Handsome Flower
Letting the rain,
Wash away all our tears,
Waiting on the steps,
Just to see you bloom once again.
Do I remember the day?
How could I ever forget?
I sit in the car for unknown reasons,
Still dark, as we wait.
Why am I here?
We sit longer,
Mother comes along crying,
What’s going on?
My favorite uncle,
So close to me,
Can still remember
The nickname only he called me,
Tears came down,
Wishing he was back.
Why him, why not someone else?
Remember what they said?
God saw him as a handsome flower,
He picked it to take with him.
A handsome flower was my uncle,
Holds a special place in my garden, my heart
My Uncle Johnny.
