Reminisce
Although my peers tell me
that it's never right to dwell in the past,
I can't help myself from getting lost
in the time that once stood before me.
I've learned the hard way that life is cruel
and everything has an ending point eventually.
It all crumbles right before your eyes,
but it didn't yesterday.
A while back, things were different.
We laughed, we had fun, and to be honest,
whenever I looked into your soft eyes
I felt like I could've conquered the world.
But that was long ago.
Of course, s*** happened and
I saw the rise and of fall of the things I worked
so hard for, the things that made me smile.
My heart and soul and mind, they've become smashed.
You used to look at me with such a warm smile,
but now you only glare with eyes of discontent...
The pain gets unbearable, but then again you don't care anymore.
Everything has become distorted now
and I can't see happiness or sadness and right from wrong.
Today's world is too dark and cold for my tastes,
so I sit back and I reminisce, and the pain fades away for awhile...
