Concrete Carnie
i'm sitting on this carousel with pretty music playing
i'm dressed in black, i just don't match, every part of me is fraying
i'm dizzied up in wonderland and everything is bright
but when i turn around, there falls the ground, and i'm lost among my fright
i used to be a everyone's doll dressed so prettily up in pink
i used to dream of worlds so high, now all i do is sink
thought i'd try a taste of the apple, so tasty, red and wild
now i'm frozen forever in this lifeless form, as helpless as a child
and in these broken bones there's knowledge being stored
experience has taught me all i need and more
there's no turning back anymore, no spitting out the seeds
so i sit and clench my teeth while inside grows this tree
people of all types come to gaze upon the statue
some see a fairytale, others spit upon you
either way, she remains unchanged, her tears are set in stone
no matter how many come each day, she always stands alone
