Black Mist Veil
I am married to the night;
Just a cold kiss in the dark,
A whisper of a shadow
in a bed clothed with lies.
He veils me,
Cloaks me with black and hides me from the sun,
A tyrant in the shape of a ring.
In his garden he locks me,
A kingdom of sorrow where I must forever dwell,
Lured by the magic of his twinkling stars,
Captured by his love for my pain.
Alone, alone I lay upon the bed that he made,
Withered and broken like the happiness he promised,
If I only would follow him.
Now a black mantilla covers me,
Dressed to be hidden from the world,
Shielded by the dead flowers I hold,
Clutching them as if they will somehow save me.
He grasps my hand,
Leading me to a dingily laced altar,
Candles billowing dirty smoke,
The air thick with salt,
As I glance for one last saving grace,
One hope that is dashed like the flames illuminating his sunken cheeks.
Despite the smothering darkness,
I hear a priestess whisper...
I scream but the darkness steals my breath;
"Ashes to ashes..."
He smiles at me,
And I know my fate is sealed;
"Dust to dust..."
There is nothing left to save me but myself,
And I haven't the will to try.
Through my tears and I hear my own voice echo,
"Till death do us part..."
