Revolving Door
I turn around a center
Letting people leave,
Letting people come,
To others, I’m simply the connector, if you will, or perhaps
The gateway
On the other side is a different place
A new world
Pushing at my sides
Leading them around and around
The little kids laugh and try to make me go faster
Spinning around, I become delirious
And I, too, am one of them
An innocent child
I am two things at once
An entrance from one side
An exit from the other
Some hate to go
Leaving their safe haven
Where they were free of all worries
Some can’t wait to get to the opposite side
Rushing to friends that wait
Or a families’ embrace
And some just want to stay a little longer
Secure within the glass walls
‘round and ‘round
Able to see out
But not ready to join the rest of the world
