Coughs
The coughs are heard in the room,
People just stare as if she were a ghost,
Everyone knows what is coming soon,
The poor, weak, lonely chosen as the host.
The coughs just get louder,
Now everyone can hear them,
Her life just gets harder and harder,
The poor girl her life of sin.
Those coughs now exasperated,
Her breath slow and shallow,
This disease is to over-rated,
She gasps as she tries to swallow.
As she creeps toward the light,
The coughs have gone silent.
