I'm Sorry I Made You Love Me
Were all those weeks, months, and years of love worth the time and energy?
Were each of those moments worth the anguish we feel now?
Should we have ignored each other the first time our eyes met?
Because now our eyes rush away to avoid each other's contact.
Were all of those surprises worth those seconds of smiles?
Because now the excitement of our love is gone and we look for it through another.
Was all that money we spent on one another for a useful purpose?
Because now we're broke and keeping our finances separate.
Were all those moments of comfort really painful or tearful?
Because now the tears flood from the pain of our hugs.
Were we really proud of each other whenever we succeeded?
Because now we're ashamed to talk about each other to our friends.
Should we have used up our breath to pass between our months?
Because now we're suffocating rach other when we're in the same space.
Was all of our life together even a pleasant memory of the past?
I don't think it was even anything and if you feel the same way,
I say sincerely that I'm sorry I made you love me to begin with.
And if you're not sorry, I don't regret having just said that.
