Betrayal
Ice suddenly encases your heart,
The blow hitting you with a start
Your eyes prick with tears,
It’s the most you never feared
You look upon your “friend”,
The one who turned against you in the end,
With anguish in your heart,
You watch your friendship tear apart
“How could you do this?” you scream
It’s worse than anything you could have ever dreamed,
He hastily opens up his mouth,
Explanations upon explanations he spouts
You had let down all your defenses,
Thought without all your senses,
It was a mistake,
Too big a risk to take
No more, you think,
You’ve been hurt to the brink
You pull your walls up around you,
A cold fierceness now surrounds you
So, with a menacing glare,
A loud, unspoken dare,
Staring him straight in the eyes,
You tell him to stop with all the lies
You turn your back and walk away,
It has been such an upsetting day
Closing the door, you retreat into your shell,
Forever remembering this as the day you finally fell
