Make Me Feel
I want to hear a poem that makes me see
See a wave crash against the rocky shore on her pink toes as you yell
See the first survivor rain drop for a farm in the hot lands that prayed from rain more times than a priest
See the light in her eyes as she runs along the rows of white dresses with purple ribbons knowing she can have any which one her small hear desires
I want to hear a poem that makes me smell
Smell the cookies a mother bakes for her soldier son never returning home to smell the happiness
Smell the dew of the first day of high school, new and fresh inviting you in
Smell your one-in-a-kind sent, money, crackers, a five bar, a new pair of jeans and everything in between
I want to hear a poem that makes me taste
Taste the soup of a thousand tales of family's gone, friendships wronged, lives teared apart
Taste the chlorine as you follow what you love never stopping to catch your breath
Taste the pain as you are punched down, twisted, turned, pulled and pushed, always rising to the challenge
I want to hear a poem that makes me touch
Touch the beer cans placed carefully around your bed because even when your wasted your a perfectionist
Touch the first of a best friends tear catching it with a pinky, knowing what to say, monotone
Touch the fur of another best friend that you only see twice a year but every time she remembers your smile and how to stop your frown
I want to hear a poem that makes me hear
Hear the sad slow song that you claim is just perfect
Hear the upbeat pop song that you claim is just perfect
hear you say just perfect and hearing the blood pound to my head blocking my vision so I can't smack you
I just want to hear a poem that tingles the senses
I want to hear a poem
