With the bright sun shining
The air hot-
Thick-
Dewdrops plenty;
Children’s’ Bare feet running.
Thump, thump, thump.
Freshly mowed grass
Sticks everywhere,
So wash it off in the garden hose
And spray your brother with it.
Climb the big oak with Sissy
And hide in the clubhouse back in the woods with
Your best friend down the street.
Sip mama’s lemonade slow
And pick the tomatoes when they’re ready.
Laugh, laugh, laugh
All summer long
Because childhood doesn’t last.

I wrote this right after my poem, "Memories." I was very nostalgic that day as I looked through old pictures. I miss the good old days; even though I am still very young, everything was easy back then.
