The Spider's Web
If I had a chance or two or three
To run backwards to the past
I’d steal that moment in a beat
Because my time is fading fast
I am, after all, only a fly
Caught in a gossamer web
And after my essence has been drained dry
I feel my life start to ebb
You wicked spider! I want to say
You tricked me from the start!
But if it’s a game he wants to play
Then I will take the part
Let’s feign death for just a moment
As I’m tangled in the past
You must tell me of your intent
Why make this horrid game last?
Ah, the trick; yes, I forgot
You’ve robbed me of my time
And even though it’s me who’s caught
It’s you who committed the crime
