Simplicity
I sense your presence beside
me.
I embrace your warm breath
circling my body,
questioning it.
You quiz me.
It’s a test I have to pass.
I feel your uncertainty.
I prepare myself for the question,
this question everyone wonders,
and you stand there, unsure of the answer.
It’s so simple to me.
As simple as a branch
dancing in the wind.
As simple as the moon,
lighting up my face,
casting my presence.
It’s as simple as you and me.
Will you be there for me?
I read your unspoken thoughts.
I sense your self-conscious presence beside
me.
I embrace your warm breath,
your heavy, anticipating breath,
as you question me.
It’s not complex like
a spider web,
a bird’s nest,
a woman’s closet.
But simple, like you and me.
I scoot closer to you,
So you can feel my honesty radiating
everywhere.
My answer is unspoken like yours.
Of course.
